Epson secures RBA Platinum for key production site supplying Europe

Epson has secured Platinum recognition, the highest level awarded by the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), for its Indonesian production site, PT. Indonesia Epson Industry (IEI).

The Bekasi-based factory employs more than 10,800 people and manufactures printers supplied to European and other global markets. It achieved the maximum score of 200 under the RBA’s Validated Assessment Program (VAP), following an independent third-party audit covering labour practices, health and safety, environmental standards, ethics and management systems.

The recognition comes as responsible supply-chain management remains firmly in focus for European businesses. The EU’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive and Forced Labour Regulation are increasing expectations around how companies identify and address human rights and environmental risks within global supply chains.

IEI manufactures business and consumer printers, including EcoTank models, making its performance relevant to retailers, procurement teams and consumers across Europe.

Boris Manev, Corporate Sustainability Director for Epson Europe, said: “European buyers are under growing pressure to understand what is happening deeper within their supply chains, while consumers increasingly want to know how the products they buy are made. Commitments alone are no longer enough; both expect credible evidence.

“IEI’s repeated Platinum recognition shows that responsible manufacturing is embedded in how this major Epson site operates, giving customers greater confidence and procurement teams independently verified information to support their decisions.”

Epson has been an RBA member since 2019, and IEI has participated in the VAP since 2020. Its latest Platinum recognition demonstrates continued performance against the RBA Code of Conduct. Epson factories in Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and elsewhere in Indonesia have also achieved Platinum status. Epson also holds an EcoVadis Platinum rating for sustainability, placing it among the top 1% of companies assessed globally.
