Flexible and scalable automation from Epson placed centre stage at Robotics and Automation
18 October, 2022 - Epson will showcase flexible and scalable robotic automation at Robotics and Automation. Simple and affordable solutions that help operations enjoy reduced production costs, improved product quality, increased workflow, and enhanced business capabilities will be presented at Coventry Building Society Arena, 1-2 November 2022, Stand 600.
Among the technologies highlighted will be the Epson GX4 and GX8 high-power-density SCARA robots, which deliver next level performance and flexibility ideal for medical devices, electronics, and consumer electronics industries. The GX4 will provide an eye-catching display of high-speed automation while the GX8 will showcase durable, high speed product handling.
Both robots deliver high throughput, smooth motion control and heavy payloads thanks to Epson’s advanced GYROPLUS technology. Offering multiple arm configurations - a 250-350 mm reach with the GX4 and a 450-650 mm reach with the GX8 - both robots can achieve ultra-high precision with tasks including assembly, pick and place and intricate small-parts handling processes. They have battery-less encoders, built-in Ethernet cables and other advanced features to support a remarkably low cost of ownership.
Ease of use is aided by Epson Vision Guide. It is fully integrated within the Epson RC+® development environment for easy configuration and calibration as well as fast development and simplified maintenance. It has a point-and-click interface that makes it simple for users of all levels and features wizards and auto calibration methods, plus a combination robot/vision simulator for rapid offline testing.
On the stand, too, will be the compact SCARA N Series. The 6-axis robot ensures maximum efficiency with the smallest footprint. It is extremely manoeuvrable due to its inwardly orientated second axis that moves the centre of rotation downwards. As a result, this device enables highly efficient work processes.
Clive Wright, Robotics Account Manager at Epson UK, states: “We have established our position as the global leader in SCARA robots and that is in part because we offer a complete package including the feeder, robot and Epson Vision Guide. At Robotics and Automation we will be highlighting how this delivers ease of use and scalability and enables operations under enormous pressures to create streamlined workflows flexibly and responsively to support growth. We will be helping attendees discover how they can standardise production and remove laborious and time consuming tasks where possible to enhance productivity.”
