World’s Lightest Smart Glasses, Epson’s Moverio BT-300, now equipped to meet needs of Drone Piloting
Epson today announced that its award winning Moverio BT-300 smart eyewear, which are currently the lightest binocular see-through Augmented Reality glasses on the market, have now been specifically adapted to meet the needs of drone pilots and aerial photographers and is available for delivery in January.
The BT-300 is compatible with DJI’s GO app, which provides drone enthusiasts with easy line-of-sight control over their UAVs. Additionally, the BT-300 now comes with the option to purchase dark shades designed to help drone pilots keep clear line-of-sight of their drones in sunlight. The option of dark shades will prove especially helpful for aerial photography and filming. A further option includes access to third party specially designed fasteners that attach the BT-300 controller securely to the drone remote controller.
“The Moverio BT-300 has been adapted to make drone flying and filming safer and will help users stay in compliance with regulations,” commented Michael Perry, director of strategic partnerships, DJI. “By using the GO app with Moverio glasses, drone pilots will be able to see crystal clear, transparent first person views (FPV) from the drone camera while simultaneously maintaining line of sight with their aircraft. The DJI GO app is compatible with the DJI Phantom, Inspire and Mavic series drone models as well as the Osmo handheld gimbal and camera.”
Valerie Riffaud-Cangelosi, Epson’s EMEA Head of New Market Development, says: “The BT-300 is now compatible with the DJI GO app which can be uploaded from the Moverio Apps Market. Additional options, such as dark shades, are designed to help drone pilots keep in continual visual contact with their drones. This is an important factor in terms of regulations and piloting experience, because it helps the pilot to concentrate on the task at hand while never losing sight of their drone and means they can make decisions more quickly.”
The Moverio BT-300 features Epson’s unique silicon-based Si-OLED (organic light emitting diode) digital display technology. The device is the lightest binocular see-through smart glass on the market and is 72% lighter than the original Moverio launched in 2011, setting a new standard for augmented reality smart eyewear.
Launching its first-generation smart glasses in 2011, the Moverio BT-300 represents the world’s lightest binocular, transparent smart glasses with an OLED display. Combining breakthrough silicon-based Si-OLED digital display technology and Android OS 5.1, the Moverio BT-300 enables truly transparent mobile AR experiences. The North American version of the BT-300 will be available in the first quarter of 2017. For a complete product overview of the Moverio BT-300, please visit the following link.
