Epson to showcase latest on-demand colour label printers on stand A52 at the PPMA Show, NEC, this September.
Epson, a global leader in printing technology, is set to unveil its extensive range of on-demand colour inkjet label printers on its stand (A52) at the PPMA Show, NEC, Birmingham, from September 24-26. Epson will showcase an impressive display of its latest innovations in colour label printing, including its flagship ColorWorks C8000e industrial label printer, alongside its C6500, C4000e, and C3500 models.
A highlight of Epson’s stand will be the new industrial ColorWorks C8000e label printer, which is designed for in-house, on-demand colour label printing. This state-of-the-art printer produces exceptional quality labels at high speed, while significantly reducing the costs and waste associated with traditional analogue label production processes.
"The new, compact, top-of-the-range ColorWorks C8000e is built to deliver high-speed, high-quality colour labels on-demand for a rapidly growing industrial labels market," commented David Spratt, Business Systems, Epson UK. "Between 2019 and 2023, demand for Epson’s ColorWorks has grown significantly, and this is clear testimony to the benefits our unique technology offers, not only in terms of cost-effectiveness, value, and quality but as a means to significantly reduce waste and many environmental impacts associated with less efficient analogue-based label production processes."
Automated Labelling Demonstration
Epson's stand will also feature a special attraction: an innovative automated labelling application demonstration. This setup includes a SCARA GX8 robot, a smart camera, and two C6000e ColorWorks printers. The SCARA robot will automate the application of labels on boxes, showcasing packaging applications that require bespoke labelling of different sized products. This automated process eliminates human handling, which is necessary for certain items, and also removes potential human labelling errors.
Features of the ColorWorks C8000e
- Precision and Speed: The C8000e incorporates Epson’s unique PrecisionCore printhead technology to produce detailed, consistent high-quality, and accurate colour labels on-demand. It achieves an image resolution of 1200 x 600dpi and a print speed of 300 mm/sec, minimizing run times for on-demand jobs.
- Versatile Media Support: Supporting a variety of media types, including matte and gloss paper, film, and synthetic, the C8000e can print label widths from one to four inches. An adjustable platen gap (up to 0.6mm) enables the use of thicker media for applications like price tags or floral labels.
- Reduced Environmental Impact: The C8000e is designed for optimum efficiency with a low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). High-capacity ink pouches mean it contains 75% less plastic than using cartridges and provides 1.65 times more volume compared with its predecessor. It has also been manufactured with 2.6 kilos fewer metal parts than its predecessor, the C7500.
- Advanced Connectivity: Providing an improved range of connectivity options, including USB 3.0, high-speed Ethernet, optional Wi-Fi, and an I/O port, the C8000e easily integrates into new infrastructures without changing existing software systems. It supports ZPL and ESC/Label, ensuring simple and seamless integration with legacy systems.
- Enhanced Usability: The C8000e’s footprint is reduced by 35% compared with the C7500, making it ideal for space-restricted environments. Its one-side access design simplifies management and maintenance tasks such as paper loading and ink replacement.
