Epson’s Moverio Pro BT-2000 Smart Headset for Professionals to Experience a Smarter Workplace

Epson today reveals the latest plans for enhancing its Moverio line-up with the Moverio Pro BT-2000 smart headset, designed to revolutionise visual communications for hard-working professionals. The new Moverio Pro is a high-end device combining the binocular, hands-free approach of the existing Moverio BT-200 smart glasses with an entirely new and rugged design, enhanced ease of use and an array of features tailored to the highly demanding needs of the workplace.

Since entering the smart glasses market in 2011, Epson has worked with customers in a range of different industries who understand the potential of Moverio smart glasses to make their business work more efficiently, whether by sharing the expertise of skilled workers virtually, enabling enhanced remote support or eliminating the need to handle bulky manuals. The result is the new Moverio Pro BT-2000 smart headset for professionals.

Featuring a high-resolution five megapixel stereo camera with three-dimensional depth sensing that detects the size and spatial positioning of objects in relation to each other, the Moverio Pro BT-2000 provides a platform for displaying augmented reality content over the real world and 3D images.

The system also includes an original and highly sensitive Epson inertial measurement unit (IMU, a type of motion sensor) for accurate head tracking or indoor positioning, and a 1350cd/m2 high-resolution display. The Moverio Pro BT-2000 brings a new dimension to commercial environments by allowing workers in various locations to see exactly what their counterparts are seeing, get visual assistance and to provide informed support and training.

The new product also has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for connectivity with external interface devices such as keyboards, mice and headsets, voice interpretation and recognition for easier hand-free operation, and two exchangeable batteries that allow work to continue with minimal interruption and downtime.

Designed with an Android operating system, the new Moverio allows enterprises and other organisations to create and share applications that tailor the product to meet their precise needs.

“I am proud to announce the development of the Moverio Pro BT-2000,” said Valerie Riffaud-Cangelosi, New Market Development Manager EMEA at Epson. “Whether it’s in manufacturing, logistics, maintenance, education or any other industry, our new smart headset offers countless opportunities for professionals to enhance the efficiency of visual communications and adds a new dimension to their work.”

The Moverio Pro BT-2000 will be available in selected markets in EMEA, Japan and the United States in the autumn of 2015, with other regions to follow.
