Epson achieves TCO Certified Generation 9.0 for 21 new projectors

Global technology firm Epson, the world’s largest projector manufacturer[1], announces that 21 of its projectors designed for use in education and corporate environments have been certified with TCO Certified Generation 9.0, underlining the company's commitment to sustainability and responsible manufacturing practices.

Notably, all 21 projectors are manufactured in Epson factories that are accredited under the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) Validated Assessment Program (VAP). This accreditation underscores Epson's dedication to responsible business practices and corporate social responsibility (CSR), ensuring that all the projectors are produced according to the highest standards in labour practices, health and safety, environmental responsibility, and ethical business behaviour.

TCO Certified Generation 9.0 is the latest iteration of the sustainability certification aimed at ensuring that products meet stringent environmental and social responsibility criteria throughout their lifecycle. This certification emphasises critical areas such as environmental impact, social responsibility, and circular economy principles.

Boris Manev, Director of Corporate Governance at Epson Europe, states: “We are delighted that our projector display products are now designated with TCO Certified Generation 9.0. We constantly strive to design compact, energy-efficient products that minimise environmental impact without diminishing performance.

“Epson’s commitment to achieving the highest quality standards for its products means we manage much of our manufacturing in-house, making it easier to control working practices across the whole manufacturing cycle, from production to delivery. With purchasing directives – such as those in the EU – now calling for greater emphasis on sustainability, projector buyers can use TCO Certified as a tool to help meet environmental and social goals.”

The 21 projectors now TCO Certified Generation 9.0 are:

  • Short Throw Projectors: EB-L210SW, EB-210SF
  • Ultra Short Throw Projectors: EB-760W, EB-770F, EB-775F, EB-760Wi, EB-770Fi, EB-810E, EB-815E
  • WXGA Projector: EB-L210W
  • 1080p Projectors: EB-L260F, EB-L265F
  • WUXGA Projectors: EB-L520U, EB-L720U, EB-L530U, EB-L630U, EB-L730U, EB-L735U
  • 4KE Projectors: EB-L750U, EB-L770U, EB-L775U

Epson's display products are engineered to reduce environmental footprint and optimise power consumption, both when projecting images and during idle times. Features such as the Light Optimiser function automatically adjust lamp brightness based on the projected image, cutting power consumption by up to 27% when displaying darker images. Additionally, the Eco Mode extends lamp life while reducing power usage during operation by over 25%.

Epson's commitment to social responsibility extends beyond its products. By managing its manufacturing processes in-house, Epson ensures high standards of social responsibility throughout the production cycle. The company’s suppliers are held to strict standards outlined in Epson’s 'Code of Conduct,' which aligns with the International Labour Organisation's (ILO) standards, prohibiting child labour and ensuring fair working conditions.
