Long-established photography business invests in next generation printers
After 83 years in the same Oslo location Sturlason AS Polyfoto has relocated to larger premises. At the same time it has updated the way it prints images with a SureColor SC-P10000 large-format photographic printer.
Established in 1933, the studio has been in the Sturlason family for three generations, and has been a news agency as well as a photographic studio. The former resulted in a collection of historically important images so important that it has now been transferred to the national archive. Parts of it have even been exhibited at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Stunning new printer and memories of the darkroom
Image quality of the absolute highest class is deeply rooted in the culture of Sturlason AS Polyfoto. In the last few years the company has bought two large format printers from Epson, among other equipment, and has recently invested in the new, super-fast 44-inch SureColor SC-P10000. The printer has been developed for photographic laboratories and copy shops, print workshops and businesses that want to offer an in-house large-format printing solution. The resolution of 600 x 600 dpi and the new PrecisionCore MicroTFP printhead ensure superior results, even on quick print jobs.
"I have an analogue background, I grew up in the darkroom. We got our first digital colour lab in 1996," says Espen Sturlason, head of the family company. "However, we have always had to 'cheat' and compensate a little to get the desired results. I was totally amazed when I tried the SureColor SC-P10000 for the first time. It was just like going back into the darkroom. Now, we are where we want to be, and can supply the market's finest image quality to the most demanding customers."
As well as being extremely user-friendly and reliable, the SureColor SC-P10000 offers high-precision media feed technology, including a newly developed camera-based paper feed stabiliser and media inductive roller system, for accurate results every time.
"The printer is smarter than you and you simply cannot make errors. In addition, the speed is impressive and it practically fires out high-quality images. This is a very important factor now that we are getting busier and delivering higher volumes, with locations in both Oslo and Asker," says Espen.
