Epson to show diversity of applications on its ColorWorks printers at Label & Print
Epson will show a number of ColorWorks printers at Label & Print (which runs alongside Packaging Innovations and Empack at the NEC at the end of this month). There will be ColorWorks C7500s (both matt and G/gloss versions), ColorWorks C3500s and a ColorWorks C831.
“We will work closely with third party suppliers including Fasson, Nakagawa and EMAX to show how diverse the substrates and applications can be with these printers,” says Dayle Guy, product manager at Epson (UK). “We will print on to satin gloss labels, fabric labels with heat seal adhesive, silver coated PTE product labels, textured vintage labels and GHS (Globally Harmonised System) for chemical drum labels.
One of the key USPs with Epson’s printers is that the company manufactures its own printheads (in this range the Precision Core Micro TFP technology) and inks. The ColorWorks printers use the DURAbrite Ultra inks (UltraChrome DL for the C7500G model) so users know that they have inks that can perform in any environment and last without quality degradation. Each particle is encapsulated in a resin so it sits on the substrate with little or no absorption. That means extra strong text and graphics and brighter colour and the flexibility to run across a range of substrates, including textured or speciality papers. It uses both Variable Sized Droplet Technology and Dot Substitution to ensure great quality across different media and reliable colour and production even if a printhead becomes blocked.
“ColorWorks printers can handle even the shortest, customised runs which minimises waste and maximises convenience,” says Dayle. “They can operate with a rewinder (which we will demonstrate on the ColorWorks C7500G) and it is possible to use RFID and NFC wireless communications to produce colour smart labels as well. These printers are a popular with both converter and end user customer bases being both robust and high quality but also affordable.
“Although users have a one year CoverPlus warranty which can include next day on-site service when they buy a ColorWorks printer, most buyers will also extend the CoverPlus service for complete peace of mind.”
