New Epson POS solution improves efficiency and customer experience

As the concept of mobile payments continues to grow in popularity, more businesses – especially those in the retail, food and hospitality sectors – are seeing the importance of improving the shopping experience for customers at every touchpoint. In this way, for small and large businesses alike, customer interaction is becoming an increasingly important concern.

POS systems offering wireless and integrated connectivity are among some of the new emerging trends in the retail sector, providing mobility and ensuring customers spend less time at pay-points waiting for card payments to be processed.

Epson, a leading manufacturer of innovative printing and projection technology, has developed a point-of-sale solution that speaks to the needs of today’s businesses to improve the customers’ shopping experience and ensure the interaction is as positive and efficient as possible.

The TM-T88VI is Epson’s latest innovation in receipt-printing, designed to work with both traditional and mobile and web-based POS systems. For businesses concerned about the cost or complexity of implementing new systems, the great news is that the TM-T88VI receipt printer can be easily integrated into existing store systems.

This makes it versatile enough for shop, bar and restaurant owners who want to develop new ways of interacting with customers, and also for those who simply want to run a combined or traditional setup.

Hugh Davies, Business Development Manager, Business Systems at Epson South Africa, says, “Many businesses, especially in the retail and restaurant sectors, are keen to explore how web and mobile POS solutions can improve efficiency and customer satisfaction, but don’t want to commit to an entirely new system straight away. The TM-T88VI allows users to add web and mobile POS services in stages, or run systems alone or in parallel if they choose.”

Server Direct Print functionality allows for direct web application printing. It also supports beacons, which help mobile devices identify the nearest printer, making it ideal for POS environments where multiple users are sending data to a central printer to produce receipts.  NFC support makes it easy to pair tablets, smartphones and other mobile devices.

As well as versatility, the TM-T88VI offers outstanding performance, with print speeds of up to 350mm/s, and Epson’s proven reliability. A backward paper-feeding function helps save paper without affecting performance, reducing running costs and paper waste.

Available in both black and white, the TM-T88VI has exactly the same footprint as the TM-T88V, allowing businesses to upgrade to a brand new system without having to rearrange counter space.

The TM-T88VI is available from June 2016. Price on request.
