Epson establishes distribution network in Zimbabwe

April 2013, Harare - To ensure Epson products can be purchased timeously and efficiently, and to affirm its commitment to the Zimbabwe IT channel, Epson has expanded its local distribution base by appointing Mecer IT Distribution and Solid Visions Technology as an official distributor of Epson’s IT and business-related products in Zimbabwe.

“Epson is a global brand, but we believe it is vital to have local businesses in each country representing us, which is why we have chosen to grow our presence in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) through a network of local established and experienced technology distributors,” said Hennie Crous, Epson’s senior corporate account manager for the Africa region. “After having evaluated a number of distributors in Zimbabwe, we were most impressed with Mecer IT Distribution and Solid Visions Technology, and we are very pleased to partner with them and welcome them to the Epson distributor family.”

Mecer has been a leading distributor of information technology and associated products in Zimbabwe for 17 years, during which time it has established firm relationships in the local market through its commitment to in-depth product knowledge and outstanding customer service, according to Max Gwangwadza, the company’s managing director.

“Adding Epson products to our portfolio will give Mecer IT Distribution a further competitive edge in the Zimbabwean market,” says Gwangwadza. “We will be able to give our resellers access to a brand that is globally recognised for its innovation and superior quality, and we look forward to building Epson to be the printer and projector brand of choice in Zimbabwe in the coming years.”

Solid Visions Technology operates from its headquarters in Hatfield, Harare, and plans to develop a distribution centre that will facilitate its plans to expand beyond Zimbabwe’s borders in the coming years.

“We see our relationship with Epson as a major foundation for our growth going forward,” says Simbarashe Kushata, the company’s business development officer. “We distribute superior technology brands in Zimbabwe, and it is our goal to become a one-stop-shop for all resellers and retailers in the country who are seeking outstanding service, excellent product support and the world’s most advanced and innovative products. We are confident that Epson’s range of products will help us solidify this reputation.”

The selection of Epson products that will now be available in Zimbabwe includes printers, projectors, scanners and the relevant consumables required to manage them at optimal efficiency. Each product range has models suited for many different large and small business sectors including retail and hospitality, design and advertising, photography, architecture, engineering, manufacturing, mining, tourism and government, to name a few.

Mecer IT Distribution and Solid Visions Technology will also join Epson’s Channel Partner Programme, which currently has over 250 partners throughout Southern Africa. The programme was refreshed in 2010, introducing a number of new benefits that sawall Epson channel partners receiving standardised benefits, rebates and trading terms, and providing equal opportunities for both large and small partners to succeed.

“We’re very excited to have these two outstanding companies come on board as new Epson distributors. With their extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of the local business environment, we look forward to seeing them become strong distributors of our products to the extensive reseller network in Zimbabwe,” Crous concludes.
