Q.art, based in Vienna, has been working very successfully in vehicle labelling for around 20 years. Well-known regional companies have their fleets labelled by the company and are repeat customers. Recently, they bought a SureColor SC-S70600 to print advertising vinyls for trucks.

Digital printing for faster order processing

Early in the firm's history, vinyl printing was commissioned from partners. This worked well until the deadlines and delivery times became ever tighter, making the procurement of a digital printer an urgent necessity to meet these requirements. It was also necessary to take into account the trend for increasing numbers of decals being used on vehicles such as buses.

When Q.art signed a deal with major car rental company Europcar, the firm acquired acquired a customer large enough to make logistics a challenge when it came to time management of orders. It wouldn't have worked out without full digital production.

A wide range of uses

Q.art uses the  SureColor SC-S70600 to produce an extensive array of items. This includes exhibition displays, posters, banners, textiles, billboards for backlit display cases and PoS materials including vehicle films, wall coverings and stickers.

An advantage of this printer is its ergonomic design, which decreases its downtime. A lifting mechanism on the back of the printer means media rolls can be changed by just one person, and the media can be loaded from either the front or the back of the printer. The device does not have to be stopped or restarted to realign the paper supply during the printing process. This has saved Q.art time on maintenance.

UltraChrome GSX ink is odourless and nickel-free. This environmental friendliness means the SureColor SC-S70600 can be used inside Q.art's facilities.

"By investing in this printer, we have been able to increase our quality significantly and print in a more attractive, cleaner manner. The white function has also proven to be hugely valuable, as this enables high resolutions to be achieved on transparent materials in particular," says Thomas Ebner. "We also hope to start using the metallic inks soon. The Epson printer makes ink changeovers very quick, so we will be ready as soon as a customer requests them."
