Epson seals the deal at annual Photo and Film Expo

Epson South Africa participated in the 2013 Photo and Film Expo, the largest annual photographic event in Africa to showcase its range of Ink Tank System (ITS) photo printers and select large format photo printers to amateur, hobbyist and professional photographers.

Brand ambassadors make their mark

Epson’s strong presence and successful sales at the Photo and Film Expo can be attributed to the great products we had on display and collaboration with Gareth Pon, one of South Africa’s most popular Instagrammers and a local Epson brand ambassador,” says Ryan Hodgskin, retail account manager at Epson in South Africa.

“Gareth is somewhat of a local celebrity in the iPhoneography community, with more than 100 000 followers on Instagram, the popular social photo sharing platform,” says Hodgskin. His role at Epson’s stand to promote mobile printing using our ITS printers via the Epson iPrint app was heaven perfect fit, as his knowledge on mobile photography, Epson’s ITS printers and their wireless capabilities worked perfectly together,” he adds.

Visitors to Expo snap ITS up

“The Epson L800 was the most popular ITS printer of the range at the Expo, resulting in successful sales at and post the event. The printer clearly hits the requirements of a high quality and affordable photo printer, which has specifically been designed to meet the demands of photographers,” says Hodgskin.

“I bought an Epson L800 printer because it fits my budget and quality requirements,” says Annel Willemse of Annel Photography, a photographer who purchased a printer at the Expo. “The printer has boosted my sales, and has saved me time.  I can print out high-quality photographs while my clients wait for them – and this facility has increased my productivity and turnover significantly. I highly recommend the Epson L800 to all photographers – it is user-friendly, the quality is exceptional and it is easy to find Epson photo paper to print on.”

Janice Gutsche of Impact Photography also purchased an Epson L800 at the Expo, choosing the unit because of its high quality prints, low cost of ownership, and impressive production speed.

“I did not attend the Expo with the intention of buying a photo printer, but I was so impressed by its performance on Epson’s stand that I bought one there and then,” she says.

Models on display

Other Epson ITS printers on display at the expo include:

  • The Epson M105 - Epson’s first wireless monochrome integrated ITS printer, with a 50,000 page warranty.
  • The Epson L550 wireless multifunction ITS printer that can print, scan and copy, as well as send and receive faxes, and that prints up to 6,500 colour and 4,000 black and white pages.
  • The Epson L355 ITS printer is an all-in-one wireless unit that warrants the same page yields as the L550 printer.
  • The Epson L110 ITS printer that is a single function printer most suitable and affordable for home and student use.

With inks for this range costing exponentially less than other printers in the same range of specifications, it’s easy to see why Epson’s ITS series is a winner.

Professional printers in the limelight

While Epson’s ITS printer range was clearly the star of the show, visitors were also impressed with the large format printers on display.

The Epson Stylus Pro 3880 17-inch printer may have a small footprint, but it is packed with innovative features that are appealing to professional photographers and other imaging specialists.

The Epson Stylus Pro 7900 24-inch combines the precision of Epson’s MicroPiezo TFP print head with the extraordinary performance of Epson’s UltraChrome HDR inkIt can handle virtually any media type, in roll or cut sheet, and is suitable for producing photography, fine art reproductions, as well as color accurate commercial and flexographic proofs.

“Our participation in the Photo and Film Expo displayed Epson’s wide range of photo-printing products, with models available to suit any photographic business, whether they are a part-time hobbyist, or a professional laboratory,” Hodgskin concludes.

The event was a huge success for Epson, with successful sales achieved across the range of printers on display.
