New projector range brings high-end cinema experience home

1st April 2014 – Offering more movie fans high-end cinematic technology, Epson announces two new top-of-the-range 3D home cinema projectors, including a stripped-down version for movie lovers who want to enjoy immersive, big-screen experiences on a budget.

With almost twice the contrast ratio of previous models and with the new Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) technology, users can display content or movies onto a larger screen straight from their smartphone and tablets. This range also includes Frame Interpolation - video processing in which intermediate animation frames are generated between existing ones, in both 2D and 3D mode.

The range features the EH-TW9200, a Full HD model that allows users to connect their Full HD devices to the projector, without having to install them in the same room. The EH-TW7200 offers features usually found in high-end models, such as a wide lens shift and very high contrast ratio, but with a much lower price tag.

The EH-TW5200 is ideal for gamers looking for big screen entertainment to complement their console, as it delivers bright Full HD 2D and 3D gaming graphics. It is intuitive, lightweight, and easy to set up and use.

All three models are ideal for watching the latest blockbuster movies with dark, shadowy scenes, thanks to a high contrast ratio, which ensures deeper, crisper blacks. The EH-TW9200 features a very high contrast ratio of 600,000:1, while the EH-TW7200 is a very respectable 120,000:1.

Dean Jules, product manager at Epson South Africa, says: “As the number one projector manufacturer across the globe for over a decade, we’re always pushing our technology further to offer home users the best possible movie experience.

In addition to all the great features in these projectors, all three are compatible with USB-rechargeable, Radio Frequency (RF) active shutter 3D glasses. The EH-TW7200 and EH-TW9200 each come with one pair; while the 3D glasses are sold separately for the EH-TW5200 at RXX. These lightweight glasses can be used up to 10 metres from the projector and offer fantastic, immersive 3D entertainment.

The EH-TW5200, EH-TW7200 and EH-TW9200 have a recommended retail price of R19,800.00, R37,000.00 and R47,000.00 including VAT respectively.
