Epson announces versatile, eco-friendly projectors for educators

26th March 2014 – Epson, the world’s leading projector manufacturer, has announced a refresh of its cost-effective entry level range of 3LCD projectors aimed at education establishments. The Epson EB-98, EB-965 and EB-955W offer a range of new features including a new moderator function

The new moderator function on the EB-98, EB-965 and EB-955W enables PCs and smart devices to easily connect to the projector, while the educators or meeting host controls the projected content. It ensures that the presenter can easily manage how and when content are shared, and up to 50 people can connect at one time.

The range has an equally high White and Colour Light Output which offers up to three times brighter colours. This means brighter images are projected in a learning environment, eliminating the need for educators to dim the lights or close the blinds, even in daylight.  Additional new features include wired and optional wireless networking, Colour Universal Design (CUD), HDMI input, A/V mute and a horizontal keystone slider. They are easy-to-use and have an improved 10,000:1 contrast ratio, creating crisp, clear images.

Dean Jules, product manager at Epson South Africa, says: “We’ve listened to what our education customers want and introduced the moderator function and made sure the entire range can be connected to either a wired or wireless network to facilitate content sharing.”

In response to the growing trend of information sharing from smart devices, laptops and tablet PCs, these projectors work with the iProjection application for iOS and Android devices which enables information to be easily shared from these devices through the projector. Eco-friendly features
To help reduce environmental impact and save money in the long term, this series features a new eco tab in the menu screen, where you can set and display all eco features in one place.

The auto lamp dimming function adjusts the brightness of the lamp in line with the brightness of the image being displayed, which offers reduced power consumption, lower bills and reduced environmental impact, as well as delivering improved contrast ratio. The A/V mute function and sleep mode allow the projector to enter into a super low brightness setting, reducing the lamp wattage by 70 percent in the process.

Easy-to-use
The HDMI input support means that high-definition video and audio are played easily, whether the projector is used for business, education or for entertainment.

Positioning flexibility is delivered through Epson’s unique horizontal keystone slider and automatic vertical keystone correction, so you always get a square image.

Once in position, thanks to Epson’s Colour Universal Design (CUD), colour-blind users can easily view and operate the control panel. The LED colours and clear, intuitive menu icons on the projectors’ control panel means operation is straightforward for all users.

The EB-98, EB-965 and EB-955W have recommended retail prices of R17, 090, R21, 500 and R21, 500 respectively (Vat Incl).
