Epson and DMI show the ultimate in textile production colour control at Heimtextil

Epson teams up with DMI, the German Fashion Institute, at Heimtextil (14-17 January 2015, Messe Frankfurt, Stand F15 Hall 4) to show textile designers and producers how they can create, proof and digitally print their textile colours all the way from mood board to the final product using Spring-Summer 2016 trend colours.

DMI produces trend colour cards which are used by over 600 companies around the world to plan their seasonal interior and fashion collections. In association with Epson and Color Digital DMI has digitised these colour cards and developed DMIx©, an innovative digital colour communication standard which allows designers to precisely identify, match and reproduce colours at all points of the supply chain – from first designs to finished textiles and promotional materials.

During Heimtextil, DMI will show the complete DMIx workflow from capturing an original design, viewing it on screen, outputting a proof on an Epson Stylus Pro 4900 printer, and producing the final textiles with an Epson SureColor SC-F7100 dye sublimation printer.

Epson SureColor SC-F, SureColor SC-T and SureColor SC-S inkjet printers enable almost limitless design possibilities across the home and contract décor industry. These printers provide designers with an easy-to-use and affordable way to bring their ideas and inspiration to life with greater control, flexibility and unsurpassable quality. At Heimtextil, Epson teams up with Blooming Bryony Designs to showcase the capabilities of its printers to produce a range of soft furnishings, wallpaper and décor products. The designs have been developed around the DMI trend colours for Spring-Summer 2016 so visitors can experience what the future holds on the Epson booth.

“We strongly believe that all parts of the value chain across the textile industry will need to become increasingly digital,” says Gerd Willschütz, Director, DMI. “Our aim is to work with leading hardware and software partners such as Epson and Color Digital to streamline the complete design-to-production workflow with solutions that maximise colour quality and consistency and significantly cut lead times in this very competitive market.’

Richard Barrow, Senior Product Manager, Epson Europe, says: “At Epson we offer a range of inkjet printers to deliver exactly the benefits the textile industry needs - superb colour quality output with maximum productivity and minimal downtime.  Our association with the DMI gives our décor and fashion customers the confidence that they are achieving total end-to-end colour control and integrity.”
