Epson addresses product circularity and waste goals through extended business printer warranties and parts replacement; guaranteeing serviceable life for up to eight years

In a move to further address circularity and waste reduction goals, Epson has established an extended warranty and parts replacement programme for its business printers. This new scheme will extend typical contracted printer life cycles by up to three years to a maximum of eight, in turn supporting end user and channel partner efforts to improve sustainability.

Using Heat-Free printing technology, Epson’s inkjets impose fewer stresses on their serviceable parts than printers using laser technology, meaning they typically last longer. They also use fewer serviceable parts and consumables than laser printers, making them easier to service and manage. Because of this, these printers can continue working for much longer than the established ‘four-to-five-year print contract period’. To reduce the desire to replace products at the four/ five-year mark, Epson is guaranteeing their continued use.

Gareth Jay, Epson Europe said: “By extending the warranty period and providing an easy parts replacement programme where needed, we’re able to provide a ‘peace of mind’ solution to using products for a much longer period of time. By doing this, we can extend the replacement cycle and reduce the need to create new products and dispose of the old.”

Gareth Jay continues: “This is something we know our channel partners and end users want – to be able to continue using working products rather than replacing them due to established process. By breaking this standard, we can help our partners address their own sustainability goals.”

Henning Ohlsson, CSR director at Epson Europe added: “For Epson, this new programme allows us to gain maximum value from resource use and moves us a step closer to our goal of being underground resource free by 2050.”
