Kuvauskeskus Hynninen chooses Epson large-format printers

Kuvakeskus Hynninen, established in 1908, has always been a pioneer in photography. It was one of the first studios to adopt minilabs in the 1980s and is now the first in Finland to use an Epson dry lab. The studio has also bought an Epson Stylus Pro 9900 large format printer.

Kuvakeskus Hynninen has been using the new equipment since around December 2012, so the company has had time to fully explore its benefits.

The SureLab is easier to use than traditional wet laboratories as it requires very little maintenance. Only the ink cartridges need to be replaced, and the lab can be used as soon as the power has been switched on. Since the staff do not need to spend as much time carrying out maintenance, they can focus more on customer service. And the SureLab is also smaller and more affordable than a traditional wet lab.

Environmental friendliness also reduces costs

Unlike a wet lab, the SureLab dry lab does not produce toxic chemical waste. This protects the environment and the company no longer incurs any costs for recycling the chemicals. With the SureLab, only ink cartridges need to be recycled and they can be returned to Epson free of charge. The SureLab D3000 also consumes less energy than traditional wet labs. Because the SureLab inks do not need to be heated up, the equipment can be used as soon as the power has been switched on.

The better the photo quality, the happier the customer

Since the studio has introduced the new dry minilab, the quality of the photos printed for customers has improved.

Kuvakeskus Hynninen's goal is to be a pioneer in bringing new photography innovations to Finland and ensure the best possible service and quality for its customers.

The studio uses the SureLab D3000 to print private and corporate customers' photographs. Private customers want their photos right away, so the minilab has to be easy and quick to use. Companies often need larger photos, and the SureLab D3000 enlarges photos up to 30x120cm size. Photos larger than this are printed using the Epson Stylus Pro 9900 large format printer.

"In the future, dry labs will replace wet labs and we wanted to be at the forefront of this development. Our goal is to offer a full service studio which utilises state-of-the-art technology and respects the best photography traditions, " said Risto Mäläskä, Kuvakeskus Hynninen.
