Innovation in design and innovative creation. The fusion of an artistic vision with digital printing.

In association with Spanish artist Eva Armisén, Epson demonstrates what can be printed with its PrecisionCore technology, using digital printing and the dye sublimation processes.

The large-format SureColor printers were responsible for realising the designs produced by artist Eva Armisén as part of the "Déjate Impresionar” project – a play on words in Spanish which combines “be impressed” and “be imprinted”. The aim was to demonstrate how anything can be imprinted with Epson’s Micro Piezo (PrecisionCore) printhead technology and display it at the C!Print event in Madrid.

Where the idea came from

When Epson got in touch with the artist Eva Armisén and proposed a unique fusion of her designs with the production capacity of large-format SureColor professional printers, she was surprised at first. “Epson asked me to design a stand where I could print on almost anything I could imagine,” she says. “I then suggested creating an environment where the people visiting the trade fair could enter, almost like in a frame. The interplay of different textures and scales would make it possible to create a sensation of passing through a special space”.

At C!Print the creative potential of Eva combined with Epson digital printing technology was displayed.  This was a new experience for Eva Armisén as a designer, as she was able to realise how she could put her creative designs on any materials to create quality products and environments. Everything was 100% printed by Epson: wall vinyl and glass elements in the meeting area; lamps printed on Epson’s Japanese Kozo Paper; textile elements printed directly onto surfaces (T-shirts, bibs, trainers, bags, aprons, etc.); posters; canvasses; a dress, and even a table top and chair cushions.

“Anything can be printed”, says Minoru Usui, President of the Seiko Epson Corporation, and C!Print demonstrated his vision well. The fact is Epson PrecisionCore technology – scalable and present in all Epson printers, whatever the size – makes this possible.

To quote Óscar Visuña, Director of Epson Ibérica’s Commercial & Industrial Printing Division, the collaboration with Eva Armisén “shows anything can be printed with Epson technology.”

Eva Armisén's creations for the “Déjate Impresionar” project are displayed in the Epson Experience showroom space in Barcelona, Madrid and Lisbon to allow print firms and designers to experience first-hand what they can do, how they can do it and the infinite possibilities opened up by Epson technology.
