Epson Europe confirms end of laser printer sales within the region – two years after making the pledge and two years ahead of its global goal of 2026

Epson has launched two new A3 Business inkjet printers, bolstering its range and further confirming its commitment to Heat-Free inkjet technology. The decision to end global laser printer sales by 2026 was made two years ago as part of Epson’s wider sustainability commitment. Today, Epson Europe has fulfilled this pledge and confirms its ended the sale of laser printers in the region.

The decision to focus solely on its proprietary Heat-Free inkjet was made due to the technology’s greater potential to make meaningful advances in sustainability. This results from the different ways print technologies work - with laser requiring heat to fuse toner to a page where Heat-Free inkjet is a cold technology needing less energy to operate.

Epson has been working to fill gaps in its portfolio that laser products left. This effort is now concluded with a full Heat-Free inkjet lineup and products suitable for all requirements - from small office and low print volume needs through to large corporate enterprises and ultra-high print volume demands.

The latest products to join the lineup are the A3 WorkForce Pro EP-C7000DW and WorkForce Pro EM-C7100DWF. These 25ppm printers provide an energy efficient, low-cost alternative to laser printers and are ideal for small offices and workgroups requiring high quality A3 colour printing.

High-yield inks and high paper capacity options make these products an easy solution requiring little intervention or downtime, supporting user productivity. And duplex options and lower energy use both help save money and resources.

Umardeep Sappal, Epson Europe, says: “Our business continues to focus 100% on piezo Heat-Free inkjet, which leverages our propriety technology to deliver efficient, sustainable print solutions for our partners and end users. This decision has seen us end the sale of lasers in Europe, two years ahead of our 2026 global goal.”

According to analyst group IDC, the Business inkjet market in Western Europe is forecast to grow at a rate of +7.6% from 2023 to 2028, compared to the laser market which is expected to decline at a rate of -2.2% 1.
