Dr Batke chooses AcuLaser CX21NF

By using the compact AcuLaser CX21NF MFP system, Dr. Bernd Batke, a urologist from Essen, was able to say goodbye to the mixed array of printers, copiers and fax systems in his medical practice.

The compact all-rounder

"As a result of installing the new multifunctional system, we were able to get rid of the different workstation printers and to print, copy, fax and colour scan with just one device. This doesn't just save space but also cuts a large amount of consumables," explains Dr. Batke.

The device also has a standard paper supply of 180 sheets that can be stocked with up to 680 sheets to meet the requirements of the practice. The compact all-rounder operates at a speed of up to 25 A4 black and white pages in both print and copy modes. With resolution of up to 600dpi and a memory of 128MB (maximum 576MB) this compact, entry-level device fulfils all the requirements of the medical practice.

To connect to the local PC, the multifunction device is fitted with a USB 2.0 interface as standard. Now only one device needs to be loaded with paper to become a central workstation. Continually swapping between different systems with different toner cartridges is a thing of the past. Also, the central location behind reception also means you don't have to walk far," says Dr. Batke. "The time saved is better invested in patient care."

So that more users can benefit from the different functions, even the standard version of Epson's AcuLaser CX21NF is equipped with a network interface. High-quality colour scans can be produced and saved directly to the network. The digitised documents can then be further processed on any PC connected to the network or they can even be sent as emails, directly from the device.

Digitised patient files reduce workload

"One of the main reasons why we went for the Epson printer was the fast, high-quality scanning. We digitise our patient files and store them in a medical application. This saves us an immense amount of work, as we no longer have to sort through the documents by hand and store them in filing cabinets," says Dr. Batke.

The practice employees also very much approves of the user-friendly control panel. The five-row, back-lit display provides a logical menu structure, with clearly labelled keys making it even easier to use. Additional convenience is provided by the manual unit for double-sided printing and copying which, according to Dr. Batke, could greatly reduce paper consumption in the practice.
