NCL Foundation chooses Epson WorkForce Pro Inkjets
The NCL Foundation is committed to combatting the rare and fatal illness of childhood dementia, or NCL (neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis). As the administration of the charity is focused on its objectives, it is particularly important that the printing technology works seamlessly.
Saving money is an important issue for the administrative team, so the lowest possible share of donations should go into this. As the NLC Foundation does not have its own IT employees, it is vital for the technology to work with as few problems as possible. "It was therefore part of the requirements that the Epson WorkForce Pro works with inkjet technology," explains Tiziana Serio, who is responsible for training and fundraising at the NCL Foundation. The economical technology, which in contrast to laser printing, operates without heating up the system, helps to save ink and energy costs. Tiziana Serio adds that "the multifunctional device has always operated without any problems at all since we've had it, so we only have to worry about filling up the paper tray".
The WorkForce Pro serves its purpose in the small rooms of the Foundation and is located very close to the workstations. "Of course, this is only possible because the device does not generate any emissions," explains Tiziana Serio. Tiziana Serio installed the printing system herself in September last year. "I had never installed a printer before, but it was easy for me because the installation menu guided me quickly and very easily through the individual steps."
Eight workstations access the Epson Workforce Pro via the network. They print numerous documents from information materials, flyers and brochures via letters and invitations to address labels. The device also sends faxes, creates copies and scans various documents. "The printer is really busy ahead of events," explains Tiziana Serio. "When we have to present our information, we print several hundred copies in one go. Of course, good printing quality is very important to me here."
Overall, the NCL Foundation is very satisfied with all aspects of their Epson inkjet printer. "Thanks to its economical and user-friendly technology, our donations can be put to good use," said Tiziana Serio.
The NCL FoundationThe NCL Foundation was founded in Hamburg by Dr Frank Husemann after his son Tim was diagnosed with NCL, a gene defect. As the illness is hardly known, even by doctors, a key element of the tasks for the foundation, which is funded purely by donations, is in providing information to the public and training. The NCL Foundation views its main tasks in supporting and financing research – the vast majority of the donations go into this work, including the NCL research prize that was introduced in 2009. The foundation's tasks also include fundraising.
The comprehensive work, which includes, for example, producing fact sheets and information materials, participating in conferences, implementing and organising school projects and events about NCL, networking researchers and supporting research projects on childhood dementia, is undertaken by five employees and a total of around 50 volunteers.
