Runsense gives runners more choice with Strava compatibility

Epson has today announced that its Runsense GPS watches can now be used with Strava – the premier global online community for athletes, to share and compare their GPS-tracked activities with athletes around the world.

Strava has become one of the most popular websites and apps that use GPS data to enable athletes to track and analyse their routes. Runners, who own one of Epson’s GPS watches, will be able to use the platform to gain insights into their training, while comparing their performance against and competing with other Strava users for virtual trophies.

Epson has been at the forefront of GPS technology for the past 30 years, building sensors that have been used in a wide variety of devices, including Seiko’s Astron, the world's first GPS solar watch. Last year, the company took its first steps into the sports market when it launched Runsense – sports watches that feature advanced GPS technology.

Runsense devices track real time information including time, distance, pace, speed, and calories burnt during an activity, with the top-of-the-range SF-810 one of the few monitors on the market that also features a built-in optical heart rate monitor.

In addition to the Runsense devices, Epson’s Pulsense heart rate and activity trackers can also be synced to Strava, allowing users to retrieve heart rate data without the need of wearing an uncomfortable chest strap.
