Portsmouth Marriott Hotel chooses Epson to deliver a next generation meeting experience
2 June 2014 – The Marriott Hotel in Portsmouth is the first UK branch to install state of the art, Epson projector technology within its meeting rooms to drive greater collaboration and create next generation meeting spaces.
Working with Epson and Misco, one of the UK's leading suppliers of IT hardware, software and service solutions to businesses, the Marriott has installed EB-1410Wi interactive meeting room systems to provide clients with more flexible, innovative work spaces that inspire discussion and enhance productivity. The EB-1410Wi projectors combine short-throw projection, an interactive whiteboard, digital paper flipchart and more, allowing meeting planners and attendees to actively participate more, and share ideas easily.
Clients using the Marriott’s modern meeting facilities can stage more collaborative discussions and deliver sleeker presentations. Delivering a 100-inch interactive, projected image, and providing a wide variety of input sources, the Epson projectors cut installation costs by eliminating the need for multiple products to meet the needs of a meeting. Easy to install, the ultra-short-throw projectors reduce glare and shadows, while maximising audience involvement through multi-location functionality.
The Marriott has also employed a series of initiatives to drive better experiences for meetings. In addition to adopting interactive technology, the hotel has introduced a new meeting services application Red Coat Direct that allows meeting requests to be scheduled and managed in real time, on any device. The application is available in most UK and European Marriott Hotels.
Barend Jan Schreuder, General Manager at Marriott Portsmouth Hotel said: “As the industry leader, we’re transforming the traditional meeting experience with flexible workspaces and innovative technology. Working with partners like Epson, we can respond to growing demand for meeting spaces that encourage closer collaboration and engagement. With one piece of equipment doing the job of three or four, we can reduce investment costs on additional equipment and enable our clients to host meetings more efficiently.”
Neil Colquhoun, business director at Epson UK said: “We’re continually looking for ways to push the boundaries with our projector technology and change the way people present and interact in a business environment. People not only expect excellent customer service at Marriott hotels, but cutting edge technology that meets modern day business demands. Companies today need to have the technology in place that’s easy to set up and encourages mobile working and a more interactive style of working.”
As part of its ongoing commitment to recycle waste more effectively, the Marriott expects to significantly reduce its paper wastage as a result of implementing the interactive meeting technology. The Portsmouth branch plants a tree for every company that hosts a ‘green meeting’ for 40 or more delegates at the hotel, which resulted in its second Gold Award by The Green Business Tourism Scheme.
