Epson printer with liner-free media helps improve restaurant service

3 May, 2012: Epson,Europe’s number one POS printer manufacturer[1], announces the TM-L90 Liner-free: a reliable thermal receipt printer compatible with NCR Receipt on Label (RoLTM) media. By printing adhesive-backed receipts, the TM-L90 Liner-free provides a reliable, automated method for labelling food and drink orders, including delivery and drive-through orders. This helps restaurants, cafes and coffee shops eliminate manual labelling processes, such as tape or grease pencils, to improve efficiency, order accuracy and, therefore, customer service.

As the TM-L90 Liner-free works with NCR RoL media or standard thermal receipt paper, users only require one printer model for their receipt printing and order-labelling needs. This removes the necessity to maintain back-up stock of multiple printer models, and also reduces servicing and support costs.

Ray Cranston, business manager at Epson UK says: “Building on the success of our TM-T88IV ReStick, a printer that creates lower-tack receipts, we developed the TM-L90 Liner-free for customers wanting a label with a more powerful adhesive. Epson customers now have a choice of two different types of adhesive receipts to meet their needs.”

The TM-L90 Liner-free is compatible with 40 and 80mm paper widths, and automatically detects paper width so users can easily switch media without changing the application. The printer's sensor, for media with black marks, enables it to cut the receipt between areas of adhesive. Helping save paper, the TM-L90 Liner-free has an automatic top margin reduction feature, which allows it to print the top of the next receipt before cutting the current one when printing continues after auto-cutting.

Simon McCouaig, Vice President NCR Consumables Europe comments: “The TM-L90 Liner-free, combined with NCR RoL media, advances the way the food service industry delivers customer satisfaction. This environmentally-friendly solution eliminates traditional labels with liner materials, and helps food outlets reduce food waste and labour costs resulting from inaccurate order processing. Improved order processing efficiency and accuracy rates enhance the total customer experience.”

For lower bills and environmental impact, the TM-L90 Liner-free is designed for power efficiency and is qualified by ENERGY STAR when used with Epson's PS180 power supply.
