Epson announces two new POS solutions for retail and hospitality
XX December 2020 - 2020 has brought unprecedented challenges to the retail and hospitality environment. The sector has suffered more than most, having to adapt to changes in regulations and the way it can provide a service to its customers.
Social distancing, the move to takeaway services and pop-up outlets means that now, more than ever, technology is playing a pivotal role in helping businesses adapt to the changing landscape. Today Epson is announcing two new POS solutions for retail.
TM-m30II-NT
Following the success of the TM-m30II range of mPOS devices, Epson has expanded its line-up to include the TM-m30II-NT, designed to meet the evolving requirements of tablet POS.
The key feature of TM-m30II-NT is network tethering, which allows the printer to provide an internet connection to the tablet over cable. Not having to rely on Wi-Fi means potential connection drop-outs are avoided so orders can be processed effectively, minimising errors and offering the best customer service.
Key features:
-
‘Sync and Charge’ for tablet device connection, allows tablet to be powered and print data over a single cable
-
‘Network Tethering’ allows sharing of LAN connection with the connected tablet over cable e.g. for stable Internet connection without Wi-Fi dropouts.
-
Two USB A ports allow simple peripheral connection alongside tablet ‘Sync and Charge’ connection.
-
Access and control of the peripherals from applications via the ePOS device
-
Epson’s tried and trusted build quality
-
Intelligent functionality: Server Direct Print (SDP) and Cloud (OMS)
-
Standard paper “near-end” sensor allows monitoring of paper low status.
“Network Tethering” functionality is also available for TM-m30II-H and TM-m30II-S via firmware upgrade, available from epson-biz.com, or by using the Epson TM Utility app for iOS and Android.
TM-m50
The TM-m50 has been designed for those looking to upgrade their receipt printer but still need it to fit in with current POS systems. It provides similar capabilities to a traditional POS printer and its cube design with a small footprint means it will fit the aesthetics of any modern store.
Key features:
-
Modern design with low footprint
-
Wide range of connectivity options with USB, serial and Ethernet on-board
-
High speed 350mm/s printing
-
180DPI print resolution
-
Flexible installation with front or top receipt path and optional wall-mounting (using OT-WH30)
-
Very high reliability (mechanism 20M lines, print head 200km, auto-cutter 2.2M cuts).
-
Wide range of Epson “Intelligent” features on-board.
Both products will be available from January 2021.
