Epson announces new and improved disc publisher
Building on Epson's success and expertise in BD/DVD/CD publishers for optical media production, the second-generation Discproducer™ PP-100II combines proven features with important upgrades.
Enabling fast and reliable CD/DVD production, the PP-100II features a new USB 3.0 SuperSpeed interface, and publishes 30 CDs/15 DVDs per hour (40/12x speed, 0.6/3.8GB data respectively) including full-coverage printing on the disc surface.
Production runs of 100 DVD-R DL x 8.5GB can be left to finish unattended thanks to the fully automated operation, the Pioneer PR1 series CD/DVD drives that provide best-in-class accuracy, and Epson’s AcuGriprobotic arm, which ensures only one disc is grabbed at a time.
Easy to use and integrate into virtually any environment, the PP-100II is operated from the front, and allows easy monitoring of ink levels for each colour. As it is compact and fully stackable, the Discproducer also has valuable space-saving benefits for organisations with large-scale disc publishing needs.
The improved Total Disc Maker 5.5 software supporting Windows 8 for all models is included, providing advanced functions such as the 'read back' file backup tool, for content copying within a stack of up to 50 discs. The 'merge print' feature prints individual content onto each disc surface to enable easier batch production of, for example, personalised optical media.
Dave Ormerod, product manager at Epson UK, says: “When it comes to storing and distributing data, optical media is not only secure and revision-proof, but economical and ecological too. The PP-100II is a very cost-effective investment, as users can replace its maintenance cartridge and CD/DVD drives easily, without the need for screws, to extend its working lifespan to far more than 70,000 discs. Individual inks also help keep the cost-per-produced-disc low and, in the long term, inkjet-printed optical discs are the “greenest” archiving media.”
The PP-100II is available immediately.
