Temporary Accommodations Specialist cut their costs with Epson

Carter Accommodation Limited specialise in the hire and sale of all forms of modular accommodation, anti-vandal units, jackleg cabins, containers, toilets (both chemical and mains) and shower.

Carter Accomon's innovative business can be best demonstrated by their eco fleet of modular accommodation, which support a wide range of specialist and blue-chip clients in the construction, education, agriculture and energy sectors.

Their purpose built, seven-acre facility, based in Setchey (outside King’s Lynn), occupies a range of specialisms, including design, production, transport, and sales, each with a high-volume printing requirement. Their mixed printer fleet of laser and inkjet printers was costing them significantly in terms of ink and general printer reliability. They met with print specialist Electronic Office Solutions (EOS) to get their recommendations on a more reliable and affordable print service.

Danny Kaye, Sales Director at EOS, said: “After scanning their network to understand their print volume, we gave them one Epson WorkForce PRO WF-C579RDTWF as a demo unit, which after using, they didn’t want to go back to the previous inkjet printer they were using. The 50,000-page ink yield of this printer, matched with the competitive cost per page we were offering and the high reliability of Epson inkjet printers, helped turn Carter Accommodation into a very happy customer.”

EOS installed 2x Epson WorkForce Pro WF-C869RDTWF printers into the transport and production departments, 4 x WF-C579RDTWF printers into the completions, sales, reception, and HR departments, 1 x SureColor SC-T5100 into the design department, and 1 x WorkForce DS-780N scanner for the reception. Products were all installed on a five-year lease and are being monitored using Epson Remote Services to alert EOS when new ink is required.

Carter Accommodation are using the WorkForce DS-780N, equipped with Document Capture pro, to scan everything from financial admin to employment records while digitally storing documents in a secure and intelligent way, at a rate of 45 pages per minute. Where previously their design department were only able to print off CAD drawings as big as A3 in-house, or outsource anything larger, the SureColor SC-T5100 now enables them to print detailed drawings up to 36 inches on demand.

Gary Shipp, IT Manager at Carter Accommodation, said: “Our teams are working flat-out throughout the year and any downtime in productivity caused by our print and scan equipment is something I wanted to avoid whenever considering hardware replacement. We’d already been acquainted with the benefits of inkjet over laser printing in terms of generally lower intervention and high reliability, but trialling the Epson inkjet printer that EOS had recommended really validated the wider benefits of replacing our fleet with Epson. The demonstrable improvement we experienced with Epson’s WorkForce printers in terms of cost, eco footprint, productivity and ease-of-use, made us more comfortable in the decision to include the Epson scanner and technical printer in our lease, and so far the experience has been a massive improvement.”
