Raza Nostra chooses TM-C3400-LT Series

Raza Nostra has been selling high-quality, fresh meat to the people of Madrid for the past 40 years. The company specialises in beef, veal, pork and lamb from the best Spanish breeds, reared using traditional farming methods.

Listening to and understanding its customers’ needs has been paramount to the success of Raza Nostra. In recent years, the company has seen a real interest in meats that were previously impossible to find in Madrid. It now stocks rare breeds from Salamanca and Extremadura, as well as a wide range of specialist meats from around the world.

Raza Nostra was dissatisfied with the black-and-white, mass-produced, pre-printed product labels it was using.

Not only did the appearance of the labels give a poor representation of the company’s artisan brand, but the labels could not accommodate coloured images and flags depicting the meats’ country of origin.

Another issue with the pre-printed labels was wastage. Raza Nostra requires 30 different types of labels and the minimum order volumes of its label supplier forced the company to buy far more labels than it needed, resulting in storage expenses and high levels of wastage.

Raza Nostra decided to find a new product label source, and began considering the merits of other external and in-house printing solutions. It approached printing and imaging expert Epson for advice.
 

Epson loaned Raza Nostra a TM-C3400 on-demand colour label printer to trial. The device prints custom, high-quality colour labels on-demand and is compatible with matte and glossy media between 30 and 112mm wide – perfect for Raza Nostra’s product labelling requirements.

As the TM-C3400 uses inkjet technology and pigment ink, the resulting prints are highly durable, resisting water, smudging and fading. Raza Nostra found that the labels easily withstood storage conditions in its large fridges.

Raza Nostra needs to print up to 1,500 new labels per day and the TM-C3400 had no problems keeping pace, producing 100 labels in just three minutes thanks to its fast print speed of up to 92mm/second and its integrated auto-cutter.
 

Raza Nostra was so impressed with the TM-C3400 that it purchased two and brought its label production in-house. Using the TM-C3400 printers, the company can now produce exactly what it needs, when it wants, which has dramatically reduced costs and wastage.

It is also much easier for the company to keep up with constantly-changing expiration dates, prices and barcodes.

Furthermore, Raza Nostra now has the flexibility to change its label designs as often as it wants and can print flags and images in full colour. The high-quality custom labels produced by the TM-C3400 convey the company’s high-end branding effectively.
