Epson technology reduces Terwa Romania’s printing costs by 20%

Terwa Romania is a company specialising in the development, manufacture and marketing of metal components for the automotive and construction industries. They wanted to reduce printing costs, so replaced all of their existing printers with newer, more efficient Epson models.

In August 2015, having looked at all the available options, Terwa decided on four Epson WorkForce Pro WF-R8590DTWF business inkjet printers, using RIPS (Replaceable Ink Pack System).

"We made this decision because we had a large number of low-capacity printers. Managing them required a lot of attention on our part and a massive stock of replacement cartridges. Their service life was also less than the new multi-functional Epson, with higher service costs," says Cristea-Ioan Constantin, Financial Manager at Terwa Romania. She notes that the changes could be seen almost immediately, "After just three months using the new machines, our print costs had been reduced by approximately 20%. We completed the renewal process by acquiring three more printers of the same type in the following months. We print around 25,000-30,000 pages every month, so efficiency is very important for two reasons - saving time and saving money. The fact that we no longer have to buy equipment directly lets us invest our resources in other areas of the business."

Models from the Epson RIPS range, including the WorkForce Pro WF-R8590DTWF, are available exclusively through managed printing service providers approved by Epson.

Designed for business

The PrecisionCore technology in the WorkForce Pro WF-R8590DTWF printer provides excellent print quality at the high speeds required in industrial, commercial and office environments. The printed materials dry rapidly and are resistant to water and light, thanks to DURABrite Pro ink. The 12.7 cm colour touchscreen, similar to those on smartphones, means all commands can be selected easily and clearly. Meanwhile the 'scan to' function and LDAP compatibility make it ideal for sharing materials within an office enviornment. Users can also print confidential documents in secure mode using a PIN code.

Saving money and time

All Epson RIPS printers including the WF-R8590DTWF offer very high ink capacity, and are capable of printing 75,000 pages of black and white or colour without having to change a cartridge. The WF-R8590DTWF also consumes up to 95% less power than competing colour laser printers, as well as reducing cartridge waste by up to 99% and requiring 98% fewer maintenance calls1.

High printing speeds mean the WF-R8590DTWF can print up to 34ppm in black and white or colour in draft mode, and 24ppm in business mode. Optional scalable paper trays which have a capacity of up to 1,830 sheets reduce time spent reloading paper, and double-sided scanning is also possible.

Saving energy and protecting the environment

The WF-R8590DTWF uses up to 95%[1] less energy than competing laser printers, thanks to Epson technology which does not require heat. It doesn't emit gases that can damage the ozone layer, plus an improved quiet printing mode and lack of fan noise make it ideal for the work environment. Also, the number of parts needing replacement over the lifetime of the machine is much smaller with this model.

New business model

Printer rental is becoming a very popular part of the business model of many Romanian companies.

"Most enquiries come from companies in fields such as production, financial services or legal consultancy, which need to print more than 15,000 pages a month. It's often SMEs that want to take their business to a new level, run by young managers who are aware of the advantages of these types of services," says Eduard Galan, CEO of Ask4IT, an Epson Premium Reseller.
