SureColor SC-T7200D large-format printer helps build a school in Finland

Ruokolahti province in Finland bought a SureColor SC-T7200D four-colour, large-format printer with integrated scanner for its technical department, which has found it invaluable since its arrival.

"We have printed about 250 metres of paper already during the first five months with Epson's large format-printers. The fast print speed and high quality has encouraged more printing," says Ruokolahti municipality ICT Manager, Matti Backman.

Before buying an Epson large format printer, the province had an A0-size printer and a separate scanner. The slow printing was a problem, so the Epson printer's speed was one of the features that immediately appealed, in addition to ease of use and good quality.

"Speed and ease of use are the most important features in a printer for us, and both are combined in Epson's new printer. Our old scanners always left stripes on the scans. The difference compared to our previous solution is significant," says Backman.

"The printer is used primarily for printing architectural blueprints. Ruokolahti is nearing the completion of a school, so new architectural blueprints or drawings edits are coming in on a daily basis, and they're are all printed. In addition to printing, the old blueprints are scanned into an electronic format. As well as blueprints, Ruokolahti municipality produces a lot of large map prints, such as changes to zoning for the residents to see," says Backman, describing the use of the printer.

The SureColor SC-T7200D uses pigment inks, so blueprints can be archived and stored for decades. "Large-scale drawings and maps are easier to understand as printouts than by scrolling back and forth on a screen," Backman explains.

The PrecisionCore TFP fixed printhead offers outstanding accuracy, and ensures that printing will not cause any hidden costs or unexpected downtime at the end of the printhead's life. The printer also has large ink cartridges that reduce maintenance procedures and downtime.

"Maintenance of the SC-T7200D is easy - tasks are straightforward and logical. We've used the cleaning programme a couple of times due to heavy use, and print quality has remained excellent," says Backman.

Although the amount of printing has increased, it's also become more efficient, so Backman expects savings to rise due to a substantial reduction in waste.

Companies enjoy numerous benefits thanks to Epson's precise print head technology. Ruokolahti municipality has found that efficiency has increased and there is considerably less waste. Epson is also an environmentally friendly choice because there are reduced CO2 emissions and the new devices also consume much less electricity.
