XBM acquires iDOC in pursuit of business expansion through heat-free inkjet printing
XBM Ltd., one of the UK’s fastest growing sustainable office technology suppliers, has announced its acquisition of iDOC Services Limited, a London-based, UK wide reseller of Epson’s heat-free inkjet printers and other digital document solutions.
As Epson’s second largest MPS reseller and one of only three Epson Solutions+ Platinum Partners, XBM has played a huge role in pioneering the success of Epson’s heat-free business inkjet printers. Meanwhile, since its foundation in 2017, iDOC Services has established a diverse and loyal customer-base, many also committed to the energy and waste-saving proposition of Epson’s heat-free inkjet solutions.
“We want to lead the expansion of our business with future-proof technologies, and Epson’s eco-conscious print portfolio is standing out in this area,” commented Richard Taylor, Managing Director at XBM Ltd. “Sustainability has never been more prominent in the print industry, and acquiring another dealer and customer base that shares this sentiment only strengthens our pursuit to become the UK’s leading managed print provider.”
Epson’s heat-free business inkjet printers are widely regarded as the sustainable printing solution thanks to its reduced energy consumption and consumables compared with equivalent laser devices. Recent research from Epson and Cambridge University reveals that printers are responsible for around 2.5 mega tonnes of CO2 emissions each year, and a worldwide switch from laser to inkjet printers could reduce these emissions by up to 52.6%.
Mark Moore, the outgoing Managing Director of iDOC Services, comments: “Our priority for the acquisition is ensuring the consistency of good service for our customers across the country, and with XBM I know we’re leaving them in good hands. It’s also important to know iDOC is remaining a part of the Epson family and that its legacy for reducing the environmental impact of its customers through the technology they use will live on through XBM.”
Following it’s rebranding in 2021, Yorkshire based XBM announced its plans to expand rapidly through acquisitions and new business at their Q3 Launch in July 2022, and this is the first publicly announced take over on their path to being the UK’s largest Managed Print provider.
