Epson enables label printing directly from web browsers

25 February2013 –Epson, Europe’s number one POS printer manufacturer[1], announces the latest addition to its TM-Intelligent family – the TM-L90-i thermal label printer. By enabling retailers to print labels directly from popular web browsers without needing drivers, the TM-L90-i helps streamline operations and reduce costs.

The TM-L90-i gives retailers huge flexibility, as it is compatible with virtually any device and operating system. Unique built-in intelligence, called ePOS-Print, and a built-in web server enable the TM-L90-i to receive XML commands from web applications. The printer can communicate directly with browsers supporting HTML5, such as Safari®, Chrome™, Internet Explorer® and the standard Android browser.

In addition, ePOS-Print recognises all major ESC/POS functions sent as XML commands. This allows the TM-L90-i to control POS peripherals such as cash drawers, as well as other Epson printers. By installing the TM-L90-i, retailers can add driverless printing capabilities to their existing printers.

Sharon Head, business manager at Epson UK, says: “The TM-L90-i is easy and economical to install and maintain, and allows retailers to take advantage of cloud services. Maintenance and troubleshooting are greatly simplified, as there are no drivers to update, and the TM-L90-i can be configured directly from web applications. Furthermore, as the printer doesn’t require a permanent connection to a PC or server, fewer pieces of equipment are needed, reducing energy bills and environmental impact.”

The TM-L90-i is available from 1 March 2013.
