Epson raises over £15,700 for Iain Rennie Hospice at Home

4 April 2012 – Hemel Hempstead based imaging company Epson has raised over £15,700 for local charity Iain Rennie Hospice at Home.  Epson has supported the work of the organisation, its official chosen charity partner in the UK, since April 2011. This week Epson handed over a cheque  for £15,765.02 raised by generous staff from the company’s Apsley office.

Over the two year relationship, Epson employees have raised much needed funds by each donating £1 every Friday to wear jeans, organising quizzes, raffles, sporting events, and printer and projector sales as well as donating loose change to charity boxes throughout the offices.  The company also donated a number of printers and projectors for Iain Rennie staff to use in their own fundraising office in Tring.

Founded in 1985 the Chilterns based charity was set up by 5 nurses who came together to attend the needs of Iain Rennie, the first patient and subsequent motivation for the charity. It offers free and vital aid for patients with life threatening illnesses along with their families both by offering much needed nursing care in their own homes as well as bereavement services for loved ones left behind.

Neil Colquhoun, business director at Epson said: “We are delighted to have been able to support the fantastic work of Iain Rennie Hospice at Home.  As a local employer it’s important that we contribute to local causes and help the work carried out by charities in our area.  The amazing work they do could one day help our own people, their friends or family.”

Gillian Barnett, director of fundraising & marketing at Iain Rennie Hospice at Home said: “We are so grateful to Epson for their support.  It is such a huge achievement to raise over £15,700 in the space of two years.  That figure is enough to pay for a nurse for six months, which will make such a difference to so many local families facing life-limiting illness.  We receive less than 15% of our funding from the NHS so support like this is vital to the families we help.”

Epson selects a new local charity to work with every two years.  After a staff vote, a new charity partner has been selected and will be announced shortly.
