German public sector chooses Epson’s WorkForce Pro

Public authorities need to print quickly and efficiently. They are just two of the reasons why major public organisations across the globe are turning to faster, more efficient inkjet printers – and that means Epson's proven WorkForce Pro Series.

Inkjet printers make their mark in the office

The energy-efficient and emission-free WorkForce Pro WP-M4095DN black and white printer has come to the rescue for many public sector organisations and employees. It's made a huge impact in Niedersachsen, Germany, where the Justice Ministry has overhauled its fleet of workplace printers.

Having taken 4,000 printers offline, the search was on for a new printer that could fulfil the much more stringent demands outlined in the Niedersachsen Justice Ministry’s official tender specification.

As well as requiring printers with a speed of at least eleven pages per minute, the Niedersachsen Justice Ministry sought printers with a paper tray capable of holding at least 250 sheets. Also any candidate printer must have ultra-low energy consumption; just 40W in use and a mere 3W in standby - exacting standards indeed.

Inkjet ideal for the workplace

The answer to Niedersachsen’s needs was clear; Epson business inkjet printers. Epson has invested heavily in the development of its pioneering inkjet technology to the extent that it now gives huge advantages to workplaces. Firing 40,000 ink droplets each second so precisely that the amount of ink can be controlled completely, Epson's print heads are manufactured with an extraordinarily high level of precision that Epson has developed over many years. The end result is durable printouts, laser-like yields at half the cost per page1, all while using up to 80 per cent less energy1 than most laser printers. Thus the business inkjet printer has become a must-have for workplaces and offices.

Epson exceeds expectations

The bar was set high by the Niedersachsen Justice Ministry. Easily exceeding every single one of those requirements, however, is Epson's WorkForce Pro WP-M4095DN, that has won contracts for over 30,000 units in Germany since its commercial availability.

The results prove it; capable of producing black and white pages at a rate of 16 per minute, the WP-M4095DN has a paper capacity of 330 sheets. Even more impressively, it's extremely energy-efficient, operating on just 25W in print mode and 2.2W while in standby: way above the minimum requirements and impressive enough for the Justice Ministry to sign a contract for the installation of the product throughout its offices. In September 2013 Epson's partner, on line Datensysteme GmbH, began delivery of the first of around 4,000 units of the WP-M4095DN.

Domino effect

This began a domino effect in the region and beyond - throughout modern, cost-conscious and environmentally-aware businesses that demand efficient monochrome work station printers – and that means Epson’s WorkForce business inkjets.

Joachim Gauck is the first German President whose employees will print primarily with ink in future. The Federal Presidential Office awarded a contract for 180 monochrome work station printers to Epson and is now using the WP-M4095DN.  Among other criteria, the decision was based on the fact that it easily prints on thick paper, commonly used for certificates.

Also in September 2013, the roll out of around 12,000 units of the WP-M4095DN to the National Tax Office in Bavaria started and a further 85 units were delivered to the Financial Administration data centre in October.

Many other local authorities in Germany are following suit and have already chosen Epson inkjet printers – and in many cases it’s the WorkForce Pro WP-M4095DN that has been specified.

Innovation and versatility

Epson's WP-M4095DN has won these three tenders by meeting and exceeding tender specifications, and this trend-setting, energy-saving business inkjet printer has burgeoned in popularity for its sheer innovation and versatility too. Its twin paper trays are key; a front paper tray holds 250 sheets while a rear paper tray takes another 80 sheets. As well as employees spending less time filling up paper trays, this arrangement also makes it easier to switch between different paper types and other media. For example, one of the paper trays could be used purely for thick paper, commonly used by public authority offices to print certificates and other official material.

Saving paper & money

Reducing an office's carbon footprint means saving paper. Able to print on both sides thanks to its fast automatic duplex feature, the WP-M4095DN instantly cuts paper usage in half while making report-printing much quicker, neater and with a more professional look.

This single-function printer has a low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Ideal for businesses that print more than 1,500 pages or consume over three reams of paper per month, the WP-M4095DN boasts up to 50 per cent lower cost per page1 and up to 80 per cent lower energy consumption1. Its ultra-high yield ink cartridges are another reason for its popularity. Printing up to 10,000 pages from a single cartridge2, this workplace printer is all about low maintenance too.

Professional printing

The WorkForce Pro WP-M4095DN is not just about low-cost, energy-efficient printing; the printed page it produces is second-to-none. It prints top quality mono prints that dry instantly and are water, smudge, highlighter and fade resistant.

Epson's WorkForce Pro range of business inkjets are the ultimate in office machines – and it's the WP-M4095DN that offices throughout Germany and beyond, are embracing as the best workplace printer.
