Epson Moverio BT-350: The modern tour guide
Meerbusch, 7 February 2017 –With the ISE 2017 Epson presents a new model in its Smart Glasses series: the Moverio BT-350. The new Augmented Reality (AR) Glasses are particularly suited for professional applications, such as use in artistic and cultural establishments. The opportunity of enriching the on-site experience with augmented reality content offers organisers a completely innovative form of presentation, and allows them to inspire both new and returning visitors. The Moverio BT-350 is expected to be available from April 2017 for EUR 1,259.00 (excl. VAT).
How does a dinosaur move? What did the complete mosaic look like 2,000 years ago ? How did the artist create this portrait? Epson’s AR glasses answers these questions in a completely new, visual manner. As a modern tour guide, they enable digital content such as images and videos, as well as complex 3D content to be imported into a real environment. To this end, with the 5-Megapixel Stereo Camera, Moverio BT-350 is able to automatically recognise and display or playback additional information about objects that are directly in front of visitors. The Si-OLED technology developed by Epson guarantees clear, high-contrast images, even in bright environments, at all times.
Valerie Riffaud-Cangelosi, Head of New Market Development at Epson Europe, says: “The Moverio BT-350 is optimised for commercial use. The adjustable frames mean the glasses are comfortable and also offer long-wearing comfort for different users, as well as for spectacle wearers. The devices can also be easily and efficiently managed in groups. Optional extras make it possible to load several glasses simultaneously and furnish them with the latest updates.”
Individual control of the Moverio BT-350 can be blocked if desired. This ensures, for example, that visitors do not make any changes to the settings or accidentally leave a digital tour. The integrated batteries have a life of up to six hours. Multiple integrated ports as well as radio standards and sensors such as Bluetooth Smart, Wi-Fi, Miracast and motion sensors guarantee high connectivity.
Epson has focused on a wide range of commercial applications with the evolution of the Moverio. As a result, the Moverio Smart Glasses are particularly popular with commercial clients and independent software vendors (ISVs). With the BT-350, Epson continues its commitment to the development of binocular Smart Eyewear.
