Epson expands its replaceable ink pack (RIPS) range of business inkjet printers and urges organisations to re-think tech choices in a drive to improve sustainability and productivity
- Epson BIJ products sold in 2018 expected to save organisations in Western Europe €15.4 million and 37,573 tonnes of CO 2over a four-year cycle
- If all European businesses switched from laser to Epson business inkjet, further annual savings could be made of:
- 1.8 billion KwH of energy
- €213 million in cost
- 636 thousand tonnes of CO 2
The new Epson Workforce Pro RIPS WF-C879R and WF-C878R join the Epson business inkjet range of high capacity Replicable Ink Pack (RIPS) printers. The products enable page yields of up to 86,000 pages in mono and 50,000 pages in colour without needing replacement supplies, increasing product availability and productivity, and reducing the need for user intervention.
Supported by Epson’s Remote Service (ERS) software, these new RIPS products are easy for the channel to manage through remote diagnostics, providing a seamless service for the reseller and end-customer.
With print speeds of up to 26ppm [1], the new products are ideally suited for the mid-market. Their launch follows Epson’s recent announcement about the scale of savings already being generated by its business inkjet products and the remaining opportunity for businesses switching to them.
Based on Epson BIJ products sold during 2018, European businesses will save an estimated €15.4 million in energy costs as well as 37,573 tonnes of CO2 during a four-year cycle [2].
“With sustainability, productivity and efficiency firmly fixed as key drivers when specifying and selecting business products, Epson has sought to ensure its BIJ range is able to address all three,” says Darren Phelps, VP of business for Epson Europe.
“This is evidenced in data highlighting the further savings opportunity afforded by these products. In fact, if every business in Europe currently using laser printers switched them for Epson business inkjets, over 1.8 billion KwH of energy could be saved each year. This equates to approximately €213 million in cost and 636 thousand tonnes of CO2 [3]– a volume it would take 29 million trees a year to absorb.”
