Epson demonstrates work from tomorrow’s designers and teams up with a wide range of partners at FESPA

Tasteful and eye-catching – exceptional work of textiles students in Hall 2.2 Stand D30 at FESPA in Berlin, 15-18 May.

Underlining Epson’s encouragement of young talent, its stand at FESPA 2018 will feature work from textile students from two UK universities - Birmingham City University and the University of Leeds. Each university ran a brief set by Epson which aims to challenge students to produce original work for interior décor applications. This is a scheme Epson hopes to roll out to other universities.

Students’ work selected includes submissions from Lara Otzekin, Grace Oliver, Alicia Le Bellego and Gina Johal from Birmingham City University and Octavia Manning-Cox and Ruth Bagot from University of Leeds. (The photo attached shows assessment day at Birmingham City University where various designs were short-listed to feature at FESPA)

Heather Kendle, market development manager for Epson Europe, says: “We will feature an aspirational studio apartment and the student work will feature in the furnishings as well as on the walls and accessories. There is some beautiful, original design work to be seen, showing just how innovative and creative young minds can be when given access to digital dye sublimation equipment. The students liked the discipline of working to a brief, with a specific aim and defined colour palette. Working with a client and goal in mind gives them an insight into real world design.”

Epson has already announced that it will have a very comprehensive range of SureColor printers on show – for textiles (F series), signage (S series), photography (P series) – and, for the first time a Monna Lisa industrial scale textile press. Epson will also demonstrate its Epson Edge RIP which has now been extended to run with the entire SureColor SC-F textiles range. It was launched last year for the SC-F9300 debut.

Partners will also be represented on stand including Onyx (demonstrating RIPs), YrStore (specialising in DTG personalisation), EMax (labels), Sublitech (showing 3D dye sublimation for products as diverse as cutlery and toilet seats) and Chromaluxe (demonstrating flat promotional products targeting the photo market and décor markets).
