Epson adds value with on-demand colour label printing

2nd January, 2012: Epson announces an improved version of its TM-C3400 on-demand colour label and wristband printer. Developed in response to customer feedback, the new model offers an economy print mode, the ability to control and program the printer from within applications, and start-up labelling software. The improved TM-C3400 continues to deliver long-lasting results on a wide range of media between 30 and 112mm wide.

Ideally suited to applications where correct label identification is essential – such as wristbands and prescription labels for healthcare – the TM-C3400 can help improve label recognition accuracy by printing in colour. The printer can also save money by printing on demand, removing the need for label pre-printing, which usually has associated stock management and wastage costs.

Ivan Tanev, business development manager at Epson Europe, says: “As an inkjet printer, the TM-C3400 offers several advantages over thermal transfer printers. Users benefit from long-lasting prints on a wide choice of media, such as paper and synthetic materials with matte and glossy coatings. This is thanks to Epson’s DURABrite Ultra pigment ink, which resists smudging, fading and most liquids. Another advantage of inkjet technology is security - the TM-C3400 does not use thermal transfer ribbons, which can carry imprints of sensitive information and have to be carefully disposed of.”

With a print speed of up to 92mm/sec and an integrated auto-cutter, the TM-C3400 is ideal for busy environments. Mis-prints are avoided with Epson's automatic nozzle checking technology (AID), which senses and fixes nozzle clogs or dead pixels in barcodes.

The TM-C3400 is controlled from the front, making it easier to use and allowing installation under desktops to save counter space. Integration is straightforward with direct control and programming from within applications. For a quick start, the TM-C3400 is also available in a version with basic label design software.
