Epson wins Best AR/VR Technology Platform at the 2017 Wearable Tech Show Awards

Epson has won best augmented reality platform for its Moverio smart eyewear at this year’s Wearable Tech Show, which took place at ExCeL in London earlier this month. Epson’s Moverio smart eyewear was also highly commended in the Best Enterprise Solution category.

Tech giants Google, Apple, Snapchat and Epson all received accolades, as well as innovative start-ups including Realwear, Petcube and Proximie.

“The Wearable Awards get stronger and stronger each year. More than 400 companies entered for 2017, making it one of the most sought-after accolades in technology,” commented Wearable Technology Show COO John Weir.

The judges thought that Epson’s Moverio offered a lightweight and robust solution, with the application for drone control a particularly interesting feature. The glasses have a great battery life and offer a best of breed solution to companies looking to deploy augmented reality."

The judges were looking at a range of criteria when they selected Epson’s Moverio as the winner which included having a proven business model, market leading specifications, good partnership and developer base and positive customer & press feedback.

Valerie Riffaud-Cangelosi, Head of New Market Development, Epson Europe, commented: “We are delighted to be recognised as the leading player in augmented smart eyewear with Epson’s Moverio smart glasses, and to share a winning platform with the likes of Google, Snapchat and Apple.

The Moverio BT-300 features Epson’s unique silicon-based Si-OLED (organic light emitting diode) digital display technology.  The device is the lightest binocular see-through smart glass on the market, setting a new standard for augmented reality smart eyewear.”
