Smart savings for small businesses for the New Year

It’s that time of year again – the New Year is here and we’ve got the opportunity to focus on what’s important and set goals for the months ahead. While quitting smoking or hitting the gym are great for your own personal well-being, it’s also a good time to think about what actions you can take to tackle your finances, however well established or profitable your small business is. Why not take advantage of that seasonal sense of optimism and enthusiasm and kick your business up a gear, minimise your outgoings and maximise your profits.  Time is a resource It might date back to 1748, but Benjamin Franklin’s advice that “time is money” never loses its potency. In business, it pays to understand what activities give you the best return, and equally, where your weaknesses and potential losses are.  For example, if finances aren’t your strong point, you may find that investing in an accountant could save you hours that could be more effectively spent elsewhere. With their expertise regarding tax, an accountant could uncover financial savings that you never knew existed.  Use this New Year to give your business a thorough overview and identify where you could benefit from outsourcing or delegating work.   The little things add up Getting back to basics and…

Epson 25: how we’re making products more sustainable

Epson 25: how we’re making products more sustainable   The fight against global warming requires all organisations to do what they can for the greater good. At Epson, technological innovation is our forte – our longstanding commitment to monozukuri (a Japanese philosophy meaning ‘the art and science of making things’) and Sho Sho Sei (compact, precision and energy saving) characteristics have allowed us to achieve this in an economical fashion.   Our dedication to sustainable business and these Japanese principles are why we’re weaving an environmental commitment throughout our entire product range – designing products that are both more efficient, and more effective.   Our WorkForce Pro inkjet printers have been developed with these combined philosophies at their core. Their high-capacity ink pack system requires less frequent replacement of consumables, resulting in up to 94% less waste than competitive laser alternatives, as well as up to 96% less energy1.   For businesses that require textile printing, there are huge benefits too. Our digital inkjet printing shrinks the printing process from up to two months, to a total of fourteen days. Unlike traditional ‘analogue’ textile prints, digital printers print directly onto the fabric. That means no plates are required, meaning a reduction in energy, water, ink and chemical use. In fact, the technology uses up…

Simple technology switch could help fund vital new medical equipment

Models identified using IDC HCP tracker 2019Q2 (2015Q1 to 2018Q4 data), and 2018 installed-base in EU22 businesses reported by IDC (“Installed Base by Vertical, 2019Q2”). What is the true cost of sustainability?

Energy prices have soared in recent years, and there is no great expectation that they will come down again any time soon. For organisations ranging from small and medium sized businesses, to enterprises and the public sector, that means an unwelcome impact on budgets. At the same time, these organisations are under pressure from their customers to pursue more environmentally-friendly policies, and to boost their Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) performance. In fact, almost half (44 per cent) of European businesses now see environmentally-friendly initiatives as a priority, and around the same number (38 per cent) recognise the importance of CSR.  What has this got to do with business inkjet printers? Business inkjet printers now offer a viable, clean and efficient alternative to laser printers. In a straight comparison with their laser counterparts, inkjets printers deliver up to 95 per cent reduction in energy usage and CO2 emissions, and a significant reduction in consumables used, resulting in less manufacturing, shipping and storage disposal.   And that translates to an overall reduction in cost for your business. In short, replacing the out-dated technology of lasers and running a fleet of next-generation business inkjet printers is a fast, practical way to drive down energy use costs, emissions and waste.  So it’s not surprising that, over the…

Quality, sustainability, cost

Something of a quiet revolution has been happening in workplaces across Europe. From schools and hospitals to offices and warehouses, laser printers, the long established favourites, are being replaced by business inkjets. Phil Sargeant, an expert in print market adoption at IDC, puts this down to a number of factors. These include inkjet’s ability to improve efficiencies and lessen the impact on the environment, thanks to vastly reduced power consumption, far lower CO2 emissions and considerably less waste.  “When you consider the pressures that public sector, enterprise and SMBs are under from their customers to be more environmentally friendly and aware of their impact on the planet, an inkjet fleet is able to ease these pressures,” says Sargeant. He also sees a growing awareness among buyers that inkjet output quality is now comparable to, or better than, laser printing. “Inkjet has made huge strides forward and the concerns previously held by SMBs and major enterprises around inkjet in the office have been addressed.” Altogether, this leads him to an upbeat prediction: “We forecast that (this) will continue to drive an increase to 40% market share in the next five years.” There is no reason to doubt his projection. Over the last four years, Phil Sargeant has been consistently accurate in his forecast of business…

Epson celebrates 20 years as global leader in projectors (1)

XXX – Epson, the leading global projector brand, celebrates 20 years as the world’s leading projector manufacturer. In the space of eight years, Epson has also become the market leader in Pro Displays Projection in EMEA[2]. This announcement comes as Epson appoints Massimo Pizzocri as it new  VP for Professional Displays, replacing Neil Colquhoun who now heads up Epson’s operations in CISMEA.       Massimo Pizzocri has spent over 20 years with Epson where he has been instrumental in consolidating Epson’s success in in several areas. Epson’s journey to becoming a global leader in Pro Displays includes several major milestones. In 1989, Epson developed the technology for the world's first compact, full-colour liquid crystal video projector, the VPJ-700.
